Let's workshop this poem about UFO abduction and the societal trend--picking up great momentum in 2017--of unconditionally believing victims (especially if they do not have the wrong optics)
Velvet Gloves
Excluding white-male victims,
of course—expect to hear
the following from therapists
if our trust-the-victim era
spirals any further: “For UFO
abductees, BIPOCs especially,
to have their truth questioned
is a second rape: they need
affirmation, not skepticism!”
“We need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.”—Kafka (against the safe-space cancel culture pushed by anti-art bullies, left and right)
