Traumatic Brain Injury
“Just a couple weeks,”
he said, each time
his father—demented
with a feeding tube,
frail enough to pick up—
begged to go home,
which evoked
the memory of his father
telling him the same,
decades back, before
a social worker drove him
to a foster home.
