If we are right 
to identify as Polish
given just one tie
(US-born Granny, 
sipping Folgers
from a Monaco-mug 
gift of roots), then where
to stop tracing our tree
back is a choice,
which means we are right
to identify as African 
given no non-tie 
to its acacia savannas.
