Ghetto Esteem
Her sordid activities were reactions
to the burden of being
pedestaled, poverty-person
tantrums to prove him wrong
for lavishing her with affection—
but, while old enough
to trust when someone
insists upon their unworthiness,
he loved her enough to wait.
