Cocooned
Her notice that regret
has crashed down
too late upon her,
a hungry mortal for whom
just days before
this known deathbed
the big issue was
Chinese or pizza,
reveals to her
that nature’s guardian
timing extends
from zebras endorphined
in lion mouths to her.
