Let's workshop this poem about the ads in a magazine--Mystical Marvels Magazine--that features stories like how a tortilla on which the virgin Mary's face miraculously appeared cured a boy's cancer
Audience Pegged
Unlike the “miracles”
described in its pages,
one thing inside
Mystical Marvels Magazine
was no coincidence:
ads for psychic hotlines,
anti-cancer bracelets,
and colloidal silver;
runes and ghost-hunt kits;
doctorates in ESP
and neo-geomancy;
UFO coverup DVDs.
“We need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.”—Kafka (against the safe-space cancel culture pushed by anti-art bullies, left and right)
love this. Grace in Mary's heart -- of the severn swords thing. Are for me A Part of eternity's languishing Metaphysicals as a gest/jest/link and char (I dont do characters I do something I call char) --
I think of these things as bottomless "pour edge" in the "essences" --- but not Yeats' exactly --
that does land farther back with extensions relating to Bruno - freeing metaphysics absolute god stuff, back to realms of spirit? hm. Brunos disaffection from church is not a relationship with science exactly yes no it integrates with the alchemical, he is aligned with free thinkers...
And yet I also see him closer to shakespeare in belief in a way -- spirits entangle -- not owned so much by the Almighty down from the Heavens -- as ghosts align, with spirit engaged in time --
Which is closer to Blake too.. even tho Blake doesnt make that break that Bruno does, he stays inside and yet plays outside, know what I mean --
